Building around a 980ti for 1080p Apex Legends gaming.

So I'm looking for a small upgrade around a 980ti in hopes to just play Apex Legends in 1080p +144 fps with a 144hz monitor (that I already own).

At the moment when I'm in-game with my current computer...

When there's just fields and no action going on - 120-144 fps

When I see an area with buildings or are in an area with buildings - 75-90 fps

When there's close quarters gunfights - 68-85 fps

GPU temp stays locked at 83C CPU temps hover around 78-82C

That's in like 2-3 hours of continuous play

Currently I have a i7-4790k and an Asus H81M-K motherboard that can only go as far as 16 gig DDR3 and the CPU that I already have is already the top limit for the board itself.

So I'm wondering what CPU/MB/Ram I can get to work around the 980ti.

not much you can upgrade maby ryzen 3 and a b450 and 16gb 3200mhz or something but not that much

You will not be able to get any decent improvements and you will just have wasted money for nothing. Just stick to your computer and if you are desperate for more frames lower the settings.

Apex will be gpu bottlenecked at 1080p still, even with a 2070, so no reason to upgrade cpu/mobo. Most x80ti cards are going to reach temps in the 80's range since they have 250w+ tdps. As for cpu temps i'd get something like an nh-u12s for $40

 

2060 or 2070 will perform better. I wouldn't spend more than 300 for a 2070. If you are trying to spend 400 don't get anything below a 3060ti or 2080
