Depending what cpu you have, you might not be rendering any video at all.

The display-port on the motherboard is directly connected to the iGPU (the GPU inside the CPU (if you have one)).

 

The display-port on the external GPU is connected to you guessed it the actual GPU. :)

 

When i ask for more specs, don't expect me to know the answer!
