Will my g.skill z royal RAM work even if mobo not listed on QVL?

Hi all,

I'm building a new PC for Christmas, and honestly forgot to check about RAM compatibility before ordering my RAM chips from G.skill... I know, dumb me. What I've read, is that for just classical gaming, it doesn't really matter but I've also read that it might be unstable if it is not listed as QVL.

I bought  G.skill trident Z Royal 2x16GB 4000Mhz CL 19 - 19 - 19 - 39

wondering if it will work with my ASUS ROG STRIX X570-E Gaming AM4 MOBO and Ryzen 7 5800x

I already bought them, so if it won't click, then might as well return it and buy different RAM chips.

Thanks in advance for your answers!

Merry xmas y'all

Won't hurt anything, the QVL is simply the vendor's way of saying "we guarantee this RAM works"

Just leave XMP off.

I dont see why they wont work, but it's not ideal to run them that fast if you have to run half speed memory controller.

Just leave XMP off.

What if I wanted to overclock? Would I have to manually set at a compatible speed and timing, and not use XMP, because the XMP profile won't match?

If I wanted to overclock them, would I use the XMP? If not, how would I manually overclock so that I can get the best out of FLCK 1:1 ratio?

You can, just choose lower memory frequency if the memory controller can't take it

Because XMP blows goats and I see more posts here asking for help because XMP mucked something up.

I'm not saying it definitely won't work, I'm just saying the odds of XMP working out of the box on non-QVL RAM is stacked against you
