I currently have a separate account with admin privileges along with my standard account for Windows 10 and I'm wondering, if I were to have the user account control settings set to their maximum setting and require a password would it really be necessary for me to have a separate admin account? The main reason for me having an admin account is to inform me and prevent any unwanted actions/installs on my PC but wouldn't the account control settings provide me with the same ability? I'm sure that I'm misunderstanding this and any your feedback would appreciated.

If you set your current user without install abilities, then drive-by installs can't happen, because you wouldn't have admin rights. Add to that ad-blockers in your browser and you should be GTG.

Ty for the reply. I take it that by default standard user accounts don’t have to install capabilities?
