Budget ~$2700 CAD

Country: Canada

Hi Everyone, this is my first post on the LTT forums and also my first ever PC build. I want to move away from "gaming" laptops and finally invest into something substantially better while also getting to finally play with adult legos and build it myself. Id like to finally build the gaming pc of my dreams and have it be easily upgradeable throughout the years.

So far what i have seems decent enough to me but id like to avoid any first time mistakes, blunders, or pitfalls.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry First time posting lol. I've updated it.

No problem! The build looks great! How are you going to get a 3070/5600x? The 5600x is much easier to get but still hard to obtain. I was able to get a 3060ti a few weeks ago after days of just refreshing. I do wish you luck though!

Why did you choose to go for two 1TB drives instead of a 2TB drive?

Apart from that, it looks great. Good luck on your first build :)

The more I learn, the more I realise I don't actually know anything.

Recommendations: Lian Li 205m (sleek, pretty decent airflow for a non-mesh front panel and cheap), i5-10400f (Ryzen 5 3600 performance, 20% cheaper), Arctic P14 PWM fans, Logitech g305.

I would personally go x570 chipset for mobo.

Do you have an old AMD gpu to flash the bios on the mobo you want so that the 5600x would work.

The out of the box mobo bios probably wont support the new AMD chips.

I've found a few tutorials on how to flash the motherboard online that only require a usb stick to do. However, do you think its more of a hassle to do than is worth?

No, the new gen of Ryzen is definitely worth updating a BIOS for. It's quite simple, you just have to make sure you don't lose power.

Oh right....

I thought that is only on the x570 boards....

Not sure how MSI handles it. I am familiar with Asus and Gigabit.

Generally it is rather simple. Also the mobo has dual bios so even if you fail you can still use the second bios.

But read your mobo manual carefully. Some of the bios flashing is a bit weird when done without a CPU.

Ok looked up the board it does support flashing without a CPU.

Good luck man.

I have been in queue for a 3080 for 2 months still not shipped yet.....

On the plus side 3060ti and 3070 is easier to get. I see them regularly in stock. Still overpriced.....

You can also get a 3090 but the prices are crazy like 1.8k or more that is just crazy.
