So i finally got my final pc parts and im ready to start building my pc, however i just found out that the Asus B450f motherboard needs a bios update before it can run my Ryzen 5 3600.

The question is, will it run with the ryzen 5 3600 while i install the bios, and should i download windows first and then the bios or vise versa.

Thanks a lot

Are you sure?

I remember the B450-F coming out after Ryzen 3000, so they should all be compatible with the Ryzen 5 3600.

Keep an eye on this image on the motherboard's box:

If the motherboard's BIOS is not compatible with this CPU, you can't install a new BIOS and you can't run the system.

You'd need an earlier CPU to upgrade the BIOS. You can either contact a store to do this or request a bootkit via AMD's RMA department to borrow a CPU: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/pa-100

But again, that's only if the CPU is incompatible, which I suspect it will work.

Let's say it just works, I'd install Windows first, get that working. Then go into the BIOS and turn on DOCP (to have your memory run at its intended speed) and only if that fails, I'd start updating the BIOS.

Yea i think its on the box id have to check again, if it does work then ill install windows first and then update bios, since i have a second laptop where i can download it from. But ill update bios just to be sure cause i don't want to ruin something. Thanks man
