It does, I have done this on many multi gpu setups. It will copy the data between gpus as needed. You can even drag games between monitors on different gpus.

You can add as many GPUs as your PC can handle. They don't need to be in SLI but they can't be used together without some kind of multi GPU technology. That being said SLI is dead. You can use a 1030 as a display adapter however it will use PCie lanes and may increase overall power consumption.

Ok but can you do things like put windows from one to the next or even move your mouse onto the 1030 monitor?

yup that will work fine, but there normally isn't a reason to if youhave ports on your main gpu.

Since pretty much any single modern GPU has outputs to run multiple monitors I don't see the point of doing this. Unless your main GPU is one of those mining cards that only have a single DVI out. If you're worrying about the overhead of running Windows on the second monitor affecting your main GPU's performance in games, any impact should be negligible.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

yeah i guess i would be nervous of performance
