Go to solution Solved by TetraSky,

Sounds like you got a dud and it's defective. Nothing you can do.

Do NOT attempt to "fix it" yourself by opening up the CRT monitor without the right skills and knowledge to do so.
You can easily kill yourself by doing so. Either bring it to someone who might be capable of reparing CRTs (good luck with that in 2020~2021), or you can buy another one if you really wanted one, for some reason.

You can always make a "sleeper PC" out of it if you wanted to, by taking out the guts and replacing it with an LCD panel that fits the hole.

I got my hands on an Apple Studio CRT 17" (the one that matches the Blue PowerMac G3) for a really good deal of only £10GBP ($13USD) however it has a problem. When I push the power button it glows orange indicating that there is no video signal and soon after, there is a loud bang or explosion sound from the CRT. However, there is no smoke and the thing continues working and can receive a signal but the spark happens again after a few seconds. Can someone help me diagnose this issue? I heard that inside there is a 16" Mitsubishi Diamondtron CRT.

I need this thing fixed as I will be sending this off for a full restoration of the plastics in about a week

I have someone in town that might fix it, however a sleeer is a good idea. I didn't think of that. Thanks
