5900x/5800x cooling options

Suspect3d

I need some help, I’m hoping to snag a 5900x hopefully tomorrow and if not I’ll bit the bullet on a 5800x or 5600x. Right now I have a dark rock 4 air cooler. If I got the 5900x or 5800x is this enough to keep it cool? Been seeing reports of higher temps on these chips. If not I have a meshify c case and not sure I have the room for front mount AIO and would have to use a 240 up top. Would this be a viable option?

You should be fine the cooler you have is really good but if you want extra assurance get the pro version of the dark rock 4 pro air cooler but the one you have right now will do the job just fine so its really not needed but the option is there

Ya I was thinking it would be good, the pro version when I pick this up for like 3 weeks out so I ordered this one instead. it's a great cooler I wasn't sure I needed to swap over to an AIO for the 5900x. I mean i'll just use it and see what happens. easy thing to fix.

DR4 will do an adequate job, you might get a little hot with the 5900x in certain loads, but it would do fine, and you could undervolt. A 240 AIO would easily fit in the Meshify C, however subject to your GPU length. Depending on the CPU you get you could go for a larger air cooler in the future if thermals are a problem, like the Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 4, Noctua NH-D15, Scythe Ninja 5 or FUMA 2, DeepCool Assassin III, or Cryorig R1.

I have the Cryorig R1 in my Meshify C cooling a R9 3900XT, I am very happy with it.

I have that case with an arctic liquid 240. The AIO fits perfectly up top, a 280 might be tight and if you have tall ram might be an issue.

At the front it's bit tighter as this radiator is thick but my 2060 fits in fine.

A longer card like 3070 might be an issue, as you only have 335mm of space, so it would depend on the AIO and how thick it is.

I've seen mixed reports in 5800x, I haven't done any proper testing with mine yet. Does seem the standard bios is a bit generous with voltage. Though if you're just gaming then your cooler will be fine. If you see temps are high and the clocks aren't that high then look to change.

I'm.going to see how this aio goes, might go for a nocuta dh15 if it's not that great.
