Headphone Amps Worth it?

Hey guys,

There are probably several topics on this, but I thought I'd ask anyway. I've got a pair of Sony MDR-1Rs as my main headphones and listen to a lot of music including vinyls. Was wondering how much of a difference headphone amps really make and what are some recommendations for some (more budget conscience)?

Thanks!

Nope, pretty much anything you come across will power those, you don't need one until your in the 80-ish + ohm range or have headphones that are hard to drive in general.

They're pretty much a must if the headphones need amping.

If looking to improve sound, not really.

Nope it won't make a difference since the headphones are only rated at 24 ohms.

Thanks for the response guys. What other things could I do to improve sound quality?

Not much

once you get bored of the sound you're hearing, get new headphones i guess.

Always plug your headphones into the rear jack of your computer.
