CPU Aircooling vs Water Cooling

Hello,

 

i'm planning to build a new PC. Main components are the RTX3080 and the Ryzen 7 5600x. The two cooling options in consideration are the Noctua U12A and Corsair H100i v2. Target case will be the Fractal Meshify 2 XL.

Now as I'm looking into CPU cooling regarding airflow of the RTX3080, I would assume that an aircooling solution would'nt be the best idea as it straight up sucks in the warm exhaust air from the GPU.

The watercooling solution would suck in some of the exhaust but only with one fan, therefore utilizing more fresh air from the front case fans.

Please see below pictures which is how I understand the situation.

 

I would assume the watercooling solution should be better but that's why I'm here. Please help me!

The exhaust of the GPU will not be hot enough to effect performance of the GPU. If you have good airflow the CPU will be fine, if you have bad airflow, regardless of the GPU, your CPU could get too hot. I'd make sure to have a case fan in the front top of your system so the CPU gets fresh airflow.

But would'nt that exhaust the hot cpu exhaust right in front of the gpu intake?

The cooler of the RTX 3090 or 3080 for that matter doesn't really affect the overall temps of the cpu. So an air cooler should work just as well.

that means the GPU will have to eat all the hot air the AIO will put out, especially if he intends to OC, which isn't great considering how much heat the 30 series can put out.

A bottom intake would be great

better performance for high refresh rate gaming. But I was referring to CPU overclocking.
