Should I upgrade my CPU?

Basically title.

 

My set-up is as follows:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600

GPU: RTX 3060 Ti

Motherboard: ASRock b450 Pro4

PSU: SilentiumPC Supremo FM2 650w 80+ Gold

 

Wondering if I should look to upgrade my CPU soon or whether I should wait it out. I know my motherboard already has the BIOS update to support Ryzen 5000 series and therefore my idea was to wait up for stocks to normalize and perhaps go for a Ryzen 7 5800x or a Ryzen 5 5600x, but I'm not entirely sold out on it. Should I look to upgrade, or is my good old R5 3600 enough? I've seen some real improvements in gaming benchmarks though...

a r5 3600 should be plenty for a 3060 ti.

personally im waiting for amd to release their 5nm node before i replace my older ryzen 5 2600

What resolution and refresh rate/FPS? I don't think there's going to be a real benefit to upgrade for you though, you will be GPU limited in almost every game out there. Keep in mind most review use RTX 3080/3090's and are at 1080P for CPU's, which creates an "artificial" CPU bottleneck so it looks like there are huge gains. It makes sense from a reviewers perspective, but if you are running a weaker GPU and/or higher resolution it becomes less relevant.

wouldn't upgrade the cpu for a 3060ti ,returning the gpu for a 3080 would give you more performance for the same $.

Only reason to upgrade would be if you wanted or needed more cores. If your CPU isn't limiting your experience then I think you'll be fine for a while. Wait another gen or two so you'll see a bigger uplift in performance.
