Leaking capacitor?

Go to solution Solved by rhyseyness,

They're aluminium caps which have a lifetime- Usually they last about 10 years before needing to be replaced.

If you're not electronics-y, I'd recommend you buy a new PSU rather than replacing them.

Are these capacitors leaking or is it just glue?

For context, the pc works fine, sometimes it makes a rattling sound which I thought was a fan hitting a cable. I opened the psu to verify and found no clearence issues, but I found this.

The psu is just a generic "500w", made by Hantol, 10+ years old.

As you can see I'm not knowledgeable at all at this stuff so any input is appreciated.

Should never open a PSU, high electrocution risk. Especially with those capacitors, they hold a few hundred volts at a time and can take days to drain fully. I wouldn't touch anything in there if I were you, even if they were leaking.

Get a new power supply...that thing is outdated and reached its life expectancy, with only the risk of failure climbing.

And please don't open a power supply up unless you have extensive knowledge with electricity. Its not worth your time or money to repair it.

I don't plan on changing them or anything like that, I know there's a high risk involved, I was only planning on moving any cables that could be in the fan's path. Thank you for your concern.

Tbh if the power supply doesn't work I'll just save the components, it's pretty much useless for anything other than very low end gaming. Thank you.
