Help with bottleneck again

Go to solution Solved by svmlegacy,

Don't worry about what others tell you about your hardware. What GPU are you running right now? "Bottlenecks" depend a lot on your resolution, settings, and specific programs. You should tune the settings to the hardware, not the other way around.

Question: i'm looking to start upgrading my pc I've searched alot and decided to buy a fxf rx 5700 8gb thic 3 but whenever i search i7-3820 plus rx 5700 they say it bottlenecks the gpu by 60% and by the stats they show it performs in games worst than my current gpu gtx 960 2gb , i can run gta all high 60 fps and acording to the test bench i saw only writen in text but they claim 40 fps high with that graphic card and in the other hand i saw a guy on youtube running my processor in red dead ultra settings 60 fps with a rtx , i don't know in what i belive i wana build a pc but im on a budget i wana start on a graphic card first and then build my way up while i still play video games my current config

I7-3820

Asus p9x79pro

Ddr3 32gb ram can add more i have another 32 stored

850w power supply

Ssd

Water cooler

4k monitor

Plz i really need help cus the bottleneck calculators are all lies and the 3 websites i saw seem sketchy  i can clock the processor to 3,80 maybe

: I did another question befor for a rx 5500 but it was a bit outdated and wanted gpu for the next years , and i won't be able to upgrade my pc for the next 5 or 6 months because next upgrade i will need to replace motherboard ram cpu and cooler

Very bad time to buy a GFX card, everything is either out of stock, or the prices are weapons-grade insanity.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

There's always going to be some sort of a bottleneck. It's more about figuring out what you want to have it on. With the 4k monitor, I'd definitely go for the 5700. Especially with you talking about upgrading the cpu at some point.

Once there's stock again, I'd look at a GPU.

Look at it this way. Spend and get a GPU that might be held back now, but probably wont be held back with the next upgrade, or spend less on the GPU and have to worry about a CPU being held back in the future. Gaming at 4k, I'd go for a higher end GPU than CPU. You'll be more GPU loaded usually anyways.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

The 5700 is fine for your build. Don't worry about it. Just make sure you are not overpaying on it. Currently prices are through the roof on gpus.

Don't worry about what others tell you about your hardware. What GPU are you running right now? "Bottlenecks" depend a lot on your resolution, settings, and specific programs. You should tune the settings to the hardware, not the other way around.

Main: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti, 16 GB 4400 MHz DDR4 Linux - Fedora
