Hi, I recently got a Ryzen 5 5600x and I was wondering what temps I should be expecting during gaming/light usage. I currently have the CPU seated in an ASUS ROG Strix B450 gaming -f motherboard using a hyper 212 black edition for cooling with 2 intake fans and 2 exhaust fans. I'm seeing about 70c during general light loads and was not sure if thats what I should be expecting. Any answers appreciated

ryzen likes boosting agressively to provide a smoother and more responsive experience. this translates into higher temps at idle and light loads.

run a stress test or an all-core load like cinebench and check the temps them. if they are below 85 with that cooler, it's ok. if it quickly pushes past 85 and reaches 95, then there is a cooling issue.

Hi, I have just had my 5600 go upto 95c with the stock cooler, I ordered a AIO, and when I removed the stock and cleaned the TIM off, the surface was rough, pic below, submitted a SR to AMD and was advised to claim a warranty as they said it was a manufacturing fault. The AIO (Coolermaster ML120L V2 RGB) was fitted and after settling in I can't get the CPU temp any way past 65c when stress testing with prime95.

That’s very strange. I have a 240MM AIO on mine and regularly see temps up to 80c. I do have PBO set to auto though, so it does draw a little more power etc than compared with PBO off.

Yeah, I get similar temps as well. I live in the tropics so I think it's pretty ok. Been doing some research and people seem to have similar temps with the 5600x and Hyper 212 cooier. As long as the CPU isn't reaching high 80's it should be fine.
