Hello all,

current build -

CPU - Ryzen 5 1600

mobo - asus rog b350-f

ram - team dark 16gb 3200 if i recall right

psu - evga g2 supernova 650 watt gold

wd blue 1tb hard drive

1tb m2 ssd crucial something something honestly bad memory 馃槯

windows 10 64bit

old gpu - asus strix 1080

new gpu - asus strix 2080 ti.

so basically, yesteryday I upgraded my GPU to 2080ti and so far the performance has been just about the same or even worse, I uninstalled old drivers using DDU and installed new nvidia ones, afterwards everything was really slow.

The computer turns on quick but once I am on the actual login screen, it takes just about 10 minutes to even get through it, sometimes for brief 2 mins the loading screen actually goes to really low resolution, the type of resolution you would see when you would not have any drivers installed, and then it reverts back to normal. Opening the browser takes a while and none of the games had any improvement increase. about the same fps, even when looking at youtube videos with people similar or same specs had way better performance than I would ever have.

I am not sure what to do, I am thinking maybe to reinstall either drivers, windows or it could be the fact that my gpu is placed on the 2nd 16 pcie slot on the mobo, not sure if that changes much, but it's difficult placing it in the first one due to my wifi adapted and the hard drive case thingy inside the case lol.

thank you for reading, any advice is welcome.

Well you WANT to put the GPU into the top slot.

The top PCI-E X16 3.0 slot's 16 PCI-E lanes is coming directly from the CPU.

The bottom PCI-E slot is聽ONLY聽PCI-E X4聽*ELECTRICALLY*聽, through the B350 motherboard chipset, AND is PCI-E X4 2.0

PCI-E X4 2.0 really bottlenecks a GTX 2080 Ti, and adds extra latency.

Why can't you move your Wi-Fi card .... to one of the bottom PCI-E X1 slots?

Or put the Wi-Fi card into the bottom PCI-E X16 (physical, but X4 electrically) slot?

What computer case do you have?

Most modern cases, should have enough clearance between the GPU and HDD cage....
