Hi! I've been wanting to do a poll for a while about how an average person uses a VPN. All you need to do is fill out the poll. If you'd like you can also elaborate on any of the questions. Please answer honestly, I don't want the results to be bunk. I will most likely combine these results with results from other groups of people. Thanks

Although I do technically use a VPN I don't use it in the traditional sense or what I imagine is the statistic you're trying to measure.

Why do you use it?

I self-host a Client-to-Site VPN that I setup myself. Instead of acting as a proxy between you and websites that you want to visit my VPN acts as a proxy between you and your home network.

What this means is no matter where I am in the world so long as I can ping the Public IP on my router and the network I'm on doesn't block the VPN protocols used I can connect to all of the devices and services hosted on my home network via a secure encrypted tunnel.

This proved to be a VERY powerful tool for me on several occasions enabling me to configure servers and services at my house from the place where I work.

Ahh ok. You use a VPN as it's literal purpose. And yes you're correct in saying that use doesn't count. I'm mainly looking for anonymous proxy type VPNs.
