It's time to actually read the code on the memory chips and see if you have Samsung memory chips.

It's possible the guy took bios from another card with Samsung chips and by luck it worked, who knows.

If your card actually has Samsung memory chips then if you can't find an original bios with Samsung memory settings, I'd suggest searching for a bios from another manufacturer with the same or very close to same power and temperature limits and have your memory chips supported.

Turns out, i couldn't flash the original bios from the links you provided, because device id was not the same and i got an error message about missmatched id. So, i found another bios for the asus expedition on tpu(that one was not verified), i saw on the box that i have the non oc version of the expedition, and it had the hynix memory modules, despite it saying it was samsung, so i went with my gut, flashed the bios and it worked. Now the driver installs without a problem, and also gpu-z shows correct id and hynix as the memory manufacturer.

Thank you for your help, really appreciate it!

Hello, i recently bought a used asus rx 570 expedition 4gb that has been previously used for mining.
After installing drivers, i ran atikmdag patcher and it works fine.
The problem is, i intend to put it in an old i7 rig and flip it, but as i understand, everytime new driver is installed, the patcher has to be run for it to work, and that obviously isn't ok, so my question is, would reflashing a stock bios resolve that issue for good?
Thanks for all your help!

You sure can flash the stock BIOS, make sure it belongs to the that card and supports the VRAM chips on the card itself.

Techpowerup has a database of bioses, here's all RX 570 4 GB :  TPU Link

There's two Expedition models there: TPU Expedition

you can use ATIFlash to download the bios from your video card and you can use SRBPolaris to open the downloaded bios and compare it with the ones from TPU

you want a bios that has the memory profiles for your chips.

You can also use GPU-Z  to see the memory chip info, or you could just use your eyes to see the logo on the ram chips.

On TPU, The Expedition model seems to have  Elipida "straps"  , the Expedition OC seems to have Hynix  ... you have to check what your video card has and use the right one.

I used srbpolaris to check the bios files. On one it says elipida, on the other hynix, like you said, but on my current bios it shows a third, completely different code and the name samsung.

Any idea how to proceed?
