Need help

Hi im having some trouble, I got a GeForce GTS 450 GDDR5 1gb card from the recycling center and one of the DVI ports looks like it has some corrosion and dosent work. What should I do to fix It?

Throw it away.

You'll spend more in time and parts than it's worth.

Clean it with some isopropyl alcohol and if it still doesn't work then so be it it's an ancient card that is worth nothing.

Since its corrosion I am not sure it would work, but if you had an oven you dont care about, and cook edible food in afterwords - google "reball gpu in oven"

 

It can possibly reflow the solder, but with corrosion...I doubt it...and may brick the card completely.

Just asking could I put some baking soda dater on it first and let the corrosion go away or is that a bad Idea?

 

 

also The dual dvi card Im using right now it I think a 210 so this might be a little better for the computer

It wont cause the traces to reattach, the corrosion caused the wires to no longer communicate.  The only reason I suggest googling "reballing" is because there are times when you heat the solder enough in an oven that it "reflows" the traces and they reconnect.

 

However as long as baking soda isnt conductive it shouldnt be an issue to try if you feel like it

Thanks for the help everybody, I used some soapy water and isopropal alcohol to clean the board and IT WORKS, I am currently using it as I am typing this and it is purring really nice.
