Hi all,

I recently purchased the RODE PSA1 to use with my AT2020 USB Microphone. I'm having the classic issue of the boom arm springing back up, I'm assuming this is due to counter balancing as the microphone only weighs 374g, and the boom arm is rated for 700g - 1.1kg.

Looking for suggestions on how to fix the counter balancing so that the mic doesnt fly up and almost hit me in the face when I nudge it in the slightest!

Cheers!

Its a terrible video but this guy had the same problem as you and he does explain how to solve it

You see the screws on the circle bit (look at the red arrows) if you tighten and loosen them it adjust the stands strength. Since you have a light microphone you will want to tighten them (righty tighty) do it slowly as you dont want to over tighten as that can break it. But there is a magic point at perfect tightness when the mic stand is moveable but doesnt move on its own. (also dont use a power drill, hand tools only)

Tie a very small dumbbell to the mic, that should fix everything
