Keyboard "died" then "came back"?

OK the AZIO that I purchase over a Year ago sort of died on me very early this Year. I tried using another USB Port, rebooting, even my notebook. Well I got back the KB I lend to another person, and was using that until Monday when I decided to retest my AZIO. Lo and Behold, it works!.

 

I had cheap PS/2 Keyboards that did this before. Why does this happen?

I call it the "bonk fix".

Wouldn't know... Not sure if the cable is replaceable or not.

Notwithstanding that the AZIO Retro came back, I'm wondering if I should replace this with one that has Backlighting?
