would my new laptop be able to run physics simulations?

new laptop arriving soon so i wondered if it could run fluid simulations

specs:

i7 10750h

rtx 2060

16GB RAM

512GB SSD

physics simulations look cool and it would be cool to setup my own environments and then have them simulated so i can watch it a few minutes later

what do you mean by physics simulations? in other words what would you simulate using which software?

Blender's free, so if you have already ordered the laptop, you won't do any harm by just trying it.

By the way, my desktop is a docked laptop. Get over it, No seriously, I have an exterrnal monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, ethernet and cooling fans all connected. Using it feels no different to a desktop, it works for several hours if the power goes out, and disconnecting just a few cables gives me something I can take on the go. There's enough power for all games I play and it even copes with basic (and some not-so-basic) video editing. Give it a go - you might just love it.

mind that the scripts used there are not accurate and are meant for artistic purposes. 

 

with a laptop RTX 2060 you are looking about 40 seconds perf frame with about 200 sample rate for somewhat basic simulations.

 

Don't forget to enable the rendering to be done via GPU (it'll be faster that way ) by going on preference>system ena enable the GPU + nvidia optix.
