Greetings,

I am looking for a little assistance. I currently I have 2 security cameras hooked up on blue iris. I am having some issues with recording. The recording is setup fine however I can not seem to get it to record properly. Whenever I view a recording it seems to stutter sometimes. Like the camera actually missed out on part of what went on. I can see someone walk up to the door and all of a sudden it hiccups and they have already entered the door and shut it in the video recording. I have both cameras over POE and in range. However, I am using a splitter instead of running 2 seperate cables. The poe splitter I am using is this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HSN5YSK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I am wondering if it is just a setting in blue iris, the computer I am using, or the cameras. The cameras are these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QL72HL6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I am assuming it is not the computer I am using as I tested it out on my personal computer that has a 2700x and 16gb ram and a GTX 1080 FE.

Just looking for some opinions before I climb up and put the poe switch where the poe splitter is. It would not be the end of the world but I dont have a power plug near and would need to wire another one. Thanks for the help.

have you tried setting the camera to a lower resolution to see if it makes any difference?

generally these 4K security cameras are a bit of a waste, especially with POE because that limits the LAN port to be 100mbit/s at most but usually its the camera that doesnt even have such a bitrate.

Usually you get the better picture with 1080p but using a higher bitrate.

Is it just skipping frames or are you getting video distortion such as smearing, ghosting, pixelation etc ?

Typically it is things like packet loss or extreme latency, resources issue such as the camera or NVR/VMS running high on CPU, RAM, HDD I/O or network bottlenecks.

Can sometimes be issues with the software like bugs or issues with hardware decoding.

What are your camera stream settings ?

Blue iris settings ?

Setup as ONVIF?

Check resmon for anything unusual.

What speed is your NIC/switch negotiating?

I'd try one camera without the splitter to narrow it down.

Yeah, not going to lie alot of this is above my head. but I think imma try without the splitter. but its skipping frames basically. Like i had put in the original post i see them walking to the door and then all the sudden the door is closed like they had already entered. So its skipping over recording some. But ive noticed it also do this on my substream on my phone. So i think its something besides just the recording. Its got to be something network related.
