Shut Down Now Won't Start

Go to solution Solved by Simply Tom,

So I tried a different power supply and no boot. I guess I have to RMA it. Thanks for all of you help.

I just got a gtx 780 today and after installing it and playing a game for a short amount of time it shut down and now it won't turn on. The power flickers but it will not power on. Any ideas are appreciated. Please help.

You mean it won't turn on anymore?

If so, try reinstalling your other GPU and see if it boots.

if this solves the problem what does it tell me?

You need to send back your GPU maybe.

I put the old card back in and it booted. But it did boot with the new card too when I first installed it. I am not sure if it is the GPU or the PSU. Any advice?

is it working with the new card yes or no ?. have you deleted the old drivers etc etc etc ?

I am working on updating the bios and I will uninstall and reinstall the drivers after seeing it it will boot with new card. Do you think this is a sign the card needs replaced?

if it worked then its not DOA. and unless you are next gen cahrged with static electricity you should be fine. i dont think its a bios problem tho. more like a driver going balistic. wipe and reinstall

so the drivers can cause the PC not to start, I didn't know that. Learned something important.

I don't think it is the GPU that wouldn't stop the computer from booting.

It can, if the motherboard detects the gpu is faulty it can prevent the system from booting to preserve the other hardware from taking damage.
