The lifespan being degraded is nothing to worry about. By the time the part dies from normal use and overclocks it will be so obsolete and you would have replaced it years ago

I agree, and for the most part, I likely wouldn't OC until THEN, more Allcore if it can be managed,. as SingleCore could be likely to be lesser effective in demanding multicore games anyway than Allcore by that point, where singlethreaded boosts don't mean much (years later) except in the Windows experience which is likely fast enough.
