That looks like a pretty solid list, I actually don't think I would change anything..

I built an amd version of the intel. But my god....AMD is overpriced now cuz everywhere is sold out. On this AMD build I also had to make a sacrifice, so I went with a 500 GB SSD. An SSD can always be added especially since they are cheaper than they used to be, so no big deal.

You could make this build like a hundred dollars cheaper by getting a 3300x/getting a used 3600 + not buying an expensive b550 board

Considering a christmas PC part of 70 to 90 dollars is being bought for me for christmas. This isn't a big deal. b550 board if I want upgrade to 5600x, sure b450 could bios update but meh. If AMD continues down the 'most parts are compatible with last gen parts' path then a b550 is a good investment for further down the line.

Well this is the last gen that is on the am4 socket. Zen 4 will be on am5 so that doesn't apply here

I've been trying to get a 3300X for 6 months, and the 3600 is currently overpriced. I invested in the X570 for "down the line".

All I have seen so far is this:

can you confirm that officially?

As you can see zen 3 which came out in 2020 will be the last generation on zen 3.

I was able to fit in an RTX 3060 Ti within the same amount of money as your original build. You're cheaping out on the motherboard, and since it isn't Z490, you're also cheaping out on the RAM. But I would say the improvement in graphics is worth it.

CPU - Ryzen 5 5600X | CPU Cooler - EVGA CLC 240mm AIO  Motherboard - ASRock B550 Phantom Gaming 4 | RAM - 16GB (2x8GB) Patriot Viper Steel DDR4 3600MHz CL17 | GPU - MSI RTX 3070 Ventus 3X OC | PSU -  EVGA 600 BQ | Storage - PNY CS3030 1TB NVMe SSD | Case Cooler Master TD500 Mesh

I'll take this worth a grain of salt. IT doesn't officially say "AM5 2021 and beyond". Until the official announcement or plans are revealed ill just keep my eye open.

While you're doing that plz dont buy a motherboard for future proofing when amd literally said that 2020 will be am4s last year.

1) There is no such thing as future proofing.

2) Also, you gave me no proof that AMD said that. All you gave me was a chart.

The proof is in the pudding my friend. I'm not saying your wrong and I do believe you. But I need factual evidence other than a chart.

Exactly why buy an expensive motherboard unless it has a specific feature you want

Does this not satisfy you https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_AM4 if not do more google searching and eventually you'll find something. Right now though all the search results I get are on zen 3
