Im considering expanding my memory. Currently I got a singgle stick samsung 970 evo 1tb. My motherboard offers one more m.2 slot however I was considering whether should go for it and grab another m.2 or maybe go get a bigger sata ssd.

The rig is used mainly for gaming with a ryzen 5600x and a rtx 3080

If you're already running your games on a 970 Evo M.2 then that's about as quick as it gets I think - you aren't going to notice any significant performance improvement from using a different drive.

The only case in which you should consider upgrading your storage is if you don't have enough space on your current drive to store everything~.

Thanks for reading all this by the way!

By the way, my desktop is a docked laptop. Get over it, No seriously, I have an exterrnal monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, ethernet and cooling fans all connected. Using it feels no different to a desktop, it works for several hours if the power goes out, and disconnecting just a few cables gives me something I can take on the go. There's enough power for all games I play and it even copes with basic (and some not-so-basic) video editing. Give it a go - you might just love it.

I was thinking of expanding the memory in order to not keep everything on that single m.2

What stuff would you be keeping on the second drive?
