ECC RAM on x570 prime-p?

Go to solution Solved by CommanderAlex,

Welcome to the forums!!!

For 3rd gen Ryzen chips, the only memory that is guaranteed to work on this motherboard which is found on the motherboard's QVL (Qualified Vendor List) is KINGSTON KSM26ED8/16ME(ECC) 16GB DS Micron 19-19-19-43 1.2 2666.

Note: ECC RAM will be significantly more expensive than their non-ECC counterparts.

Hey guys, I want to build my small server with Asus prime x570-P and Ryzen 5 3600 or Ryzen 7 1700.

Is it possible to run fully functional ECC RAM? If yes, can someone please recommend me any ram models?

Thank you!:)

I'm planing to use this for my Minecraft server, web server and a small MySQL server.

If you really care about working ECC, don't use consumer Ryzen. It does not officially support ECC, even if it is still there in an unsupported format.

Hello and thank you for your comment! I found that Kingston memory from 75 euros which is quite a good price. Now I have Crucial ballistix 3200 MHz cl16 which I bought for 70 euros but I think I'll sell it or use it somewhere where ECC is not needed. Will the 2 bit correction and other ECC stuff work there?

I'm not really sure as I don't know too much about ECC RAM other than it being server grade RAM to correct any errors that might happen. Also, don't forget that Ryzen is a consumer grade platform so as @porina put it, don't use Ryzen then, even though it is supported on select motherboards.
