This or That?

Mind_001

I have been building computers for years. I don't really need a "computer build" help. It's more of, what will be better price per performance wise.

I only game lightly, edit videos lightly, watch YT vids, etc.

I have been reading up on the ASRock line of AMD "NUC"s. Small form factor desktop motherboards.

Now...

https://www.newegg.com/asrock-4x4-box-4800u/p/N82E16856158069?Description=4x4+box&cm_re=4x4_box--56-158-069--Product&quicklink=true

$600

With 4800U (currently out of stock, I know)

OR

https://www.newegg.com/asrock-deskmini-x300w/p/N82E16856158068?Item=N82E16856158068

$160

You can get 4650G from aliexpress. https://www.aliexpress.com/af/4650g.html?d=y&aff_platform=portals-tool&origin=n&SearchText=4650g&catId=0&initiative_id=SB_20201111003437&sk=_ABH8G3&aff_trace_key=2c35f89b2ce94e4582e5986c739f8135-1606277631412-06824-_ABH8G3&terminal_id=d55983fa18164f528027d55758c2b364

$220

Add up to 64GB RAM on either system, and I'd be snug in a bug.

So does the extra ~$200 really give you all that much?

The X300 has 2 SATA ports, unlike the 4x4.

There a BIG difference between the G and U? I think U is embedded to your motherboard, where G isn't.

Help, plz. If I missed anything, ask.

the u is more chip than the g if that’s what you mean.

whether that is worth $200 to you or not I cannot answer.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

I meant the U series is soldered to the board. The G series is replaceable.

I looked at them side by side, and besides the CPU difference,

4x4 has more USB3 A/C Gen2 slots, and 2x Ethernet ports.

BUT the X300 has 2x M.2 2280 ports NVME, and 2x SATA 6.0 ports. Less USB functionality, but I can just use a USB3-C hub.
