install just the 8 pin and it will work, the 4 pin is for even more unneeded power

 

Tbh, I don't even think a LGA 1150 chip can even use the power from the 4 pin.  I'm not 100% sure how accurate this is, but it says 336 watts for the 8 pin EPS alone:

If that's true, odds are the only way you're gonna hit that limit is with a 2011 chip on ln2, or a 7 jiggabeet 4770k
