On a VM if i assign CPU cores, can i assign either core or thread or a mix of both or can i assign only real cores to VM ?

Awman

On youtube i can see when people create virtual machines under VMware Workstation Pro "Number of processors" and "number of cores per processors" and a "total processor count" so it's confusion what they are exactly, and if one = Cores and the other = threads.

Thanks

Number of processors = physical processors. Some servers have multiple sockets with a CPU in each.

Number of cores per processor = as it says

Total processor count = cores per processor * number of processors
