Hi everyone,

I am thinking about upgrading my system step by step.

I am now using:

Cpu: Intel i5 4460 mobo:h81 motherboard ram: 8gd ddr3 at 1600mhz

First upgrade: ryzen 5 5600x, tuf b550 gaming plus, 16 gb ddr4 at 3600mhz

Or GPU upgrade to rtx 3070.

Later i will upgrade PSU (right now im on 550w 80bronze) monitor (now on 1080p 60hz upgrade to 1080p/2k at 144hz) Ssd to m.2.

I do some casual gaming, focus is on 1080p gaming for now.

So what should i upgrade 1st my cpu mobo and ram or my gpu.

Next upgrade can be done in 6months or so.

Thnx in advance.

sata ssds are exactly the same speed as m.2's when it comes to windows boot times and the loading times of games.

Yeah, the guys did a whole video on this and the results were all over the place for SATA and NVMe in terms of perception of load times

first you should upgrade psu. and get a ssd if you don't have one.

not sure what gpu you have now. if you don't have any gpu, get gpu first.

if you have a decent gpu already, get cpu_mobo first.

I can get  corsair hx1000 for around 80 euro. But was thinking 1st to get cpu or gpu upgrade. So u think the 550w cant handle the 5600x and rtx3070?

it's not the wattage, it's the fact that it's probably a low quality unit that's out of warranty and risky to use with high power and expensive components.

you don't need a hx1000, although for 80 euros, that's a very good price, if new. 650w should be enough for a 5600x and a 3070.

Get a better GPU and PSU. Also throw in a basic SATA SSD if you don't have one already. The i5 4460 is still a competent little gaming chip.

Also just saw your other updates. PSU and GPU should be at the top fo your upgrade list. CPU can't keep up with the RTX3070 but it will for a while. PSU first deifinetly. 550W is barely scraping the minimum for those components.

So 1st psu. The hx1000 is a used one. U got any suggestions for a new one?

Then will go with the cpu mobo ram combo cuz i dont game that much so the rx 570 can still work for another 6 months then the GPU and cant get my hands on a rtx 3070 for now out of stock everywhere. But i can get the cpu now.

Should j get the tuf b550 or x570 gaming plus? Or a another one.

I have a Corsair TX750M. Great unit. 80+ Gold. I've heard you found a 1000w one, I'd go for that but it's a "slight" overkill (not that that should stop you from buying it if the price is right). The question about the motherboard is do you really need a X570 board? Will you use 2 Gen.4 M.2 drives? IF you are going to benefit from a X570 chipset, then go for it. Also if the prices are about the same for both of the boards, then personally I'd go for the X570. Just be careful, many boards will not support the new 5600x so you'll need a BIOS update. If the board has a BIOS flashback it should be no problem but as only Asus and some other high end boards have that feature, I guess you'll need to see how you can update the BIOS without spending extra cash on a 3rd Gen Ryzen CPU.
