hey guys so i have a unfi dream machine pro, can i plug any brand of voip phone in and it will work?. Once my isp setups up the phone line im on a fibre to the premise connection and my provider will only provide voip.

 

and will i need anything else or can i just plug the ethernet in and it should work btw i cant get a ubquiti voip phone in australia so thats why im seeking an ulternitive brand.

This is something you need to clarify with your ISP. Ask them directly as they might require the VoIP phone to be hooked up a certain way.

 

I say the above because I’ve seen where a Vonage box didn’t care as it was just another client on the network. But now that fiber gateways are becoming more popular, and ISPs are providing bundle packages (e.g. broadband, IPTV, VoIP), specific traffic might need to be routed through specific ports on the gateway itself.
