hi im new(ish) to the pc world so dont expect too much from me but should i go for Amd or intel I was planning on building a gaming pc and I was wondering if I should go for the intel core 19-10900k or the Ryzen 9 5900x i heard they are both good Cpu and i want a pc that will be somewhat future proofed so I was wondering which one I should get Im going to be pairing it up with a Asus Tuf gaming RTX 3080 or a AMD RX 6800x (depending on which one ye recommend with which cpu) so please help thanks you

My suggestion is to go with AMD CPU but also the RTX 3080. You might be attracted to AMD bundle because of the smart memory access thing they've got going on but the 3080 is just superior to the 6800XT right now and SAM only gives you a 2-5% performance boost in a few games. 3080 has DLSS which (in supported games) gives you around 50% fps gain and the ray tracing performance is horribly bad on the AMD cards. They are both the same when it comes to raw performance though with the 3080 being cheaper (not sure if that's the case everywhere).

Every member of LTT will scream at you to go AMD for the CPU, and nVidia for the GPU.

Honestly, the difference in the two CPUs is sort of like choosing between a Lamborghini and Maserati. Both get the job done in style, it simply comes down to a matter of person preference.

Personally, I see a lot of posts with issues dealing with RAM timing and AMD CPUs, which seems to be a non-issues with Intel chips.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

The timings problems are basically msi and asus only from what it seems

You can just check benchmarks, 5900X is faster than 10900K. 10900K is maybe cheaper however and a Z490 board can also hold Intel's next gen CPUs (while AM4 is pretty much on its last generation). Whether Intel's next gen can beat AMD is unknown however.

Dont go for Big Navi just because you decided to go for an AMD card, same for Nvidia and Intel combo. The A+A or N+I combo does not boost performance suddenly. Here the 3080 is clearly better than the 6800XT, especially when you turn on RT effects.
