I have a budget of 1500 Singapore Dollars, which would translate to around 1000$ USD.

I have picked out two laptops which i think are great, but I can't decide on which.

1 ) Asus TUF A15 (S$1507)

Specs : CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 4800H

             GPU - GTX 1660ti

             Ram - 2x8gb 3200ghz

             Storage - 512gb

              Battery - 90wh

2 ) Lenovo Legion 5

Specs : CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 4800H

             GPU - GTX 1660ti

             Ram - 2x8gb 3200ghz

             Storage - 512gb

             Battery - 60wh

On paper, they look almost similar, but I have a tough time choosing between them as the Asus one has better battery life, and presumably a better upgrade path. BUT the Lenovo one has the better screen, it's the more color accurate option.

Although I will be mostly gaming, I will also be doing some music production.

Thanks in advance!

You really shouldn't get a gaming laptop. Just look at all the threads here of people getting 90, 95, even 100c temps at load, and that's just one of the problems that plague most devices.

SFF desktop then. You are going to have a horrible experience with a gaming laptop.

aren't small form factors costlier?  Mid tower was what was in my budget back then ( well my dad is buying it for me ) so well we both felt like a laptop is better as we do move around and not be able to carry all the peripherals  ( Monitor, keyboard etc. ) as we are planning to shift countries, so yeah as much as i want a pc, i have to settle on a laptop :(

I too would highly recommend not getting a gaming laptop, they are heavy, loud and hot. A thin and light and an eGPU could be a good alternative (if you can afford it).

That being said, you asked which of the two options you should get, and so I'll answer that question as well. Personally I'd choose the Lenovo: as a much larger laptop manufacturer they are likely to be better at dealing with any warranty claims I may have. It will also, for that same reason, likely to be easier to get spare parts for the Lenovo in a few years time should you need them. Apparently the cooling system on the Asus is also inferior to that on the Lenovo.

CPU: i7 4790k, RAM: 16GB DDR3, GPU: GTX 1060 6GB

90 is negligible for a laptop as my Macbook heats up to 95 ish under normal use, so yeah lol, also the lenovo has nice thermals apparently
