Well I just found out that there is a device that is called fairphone 3. Asa geek for all tech and for sure smartphone, I found it hard to believe that a brand that I have never heard about released it's 3rd model. The point of the device is that it has less of an impact on environment etc etc.

My opinion is that if you are about to buy a slow phone to save the environment, you better but an old phone, replace battery and live your life with it, but anyway.

Was that a known thing or it's the first time for everyone hearing it?

I heard about these a while ago then kind of forgot about them. As a daily driver IIRC it's not a bad phone. Let alone for the average person.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

Well I mean it's worst than a xiaomi redmi of 2015, and that used to cost 140€, the fairphone is 480$ that's what I forgot to mention

Or it's worse than a Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T for <140€, that released in 2019. Or a <180€ Note 9s, or the new Poco X3. There are enough modern entry/midrange phones ^^

It makes no sense even thinking about 5 year old phones, who didn't got any Update since 2+ years.

I agree, this Phone is a HORRIBLE value, even much worse than every Apple Product. A German Magazine gave it the worst durability rating, because it got damaged while taking a Call during a mild Rainshower. It stopped working, something they didn't had with any other phone.

Even repairability is not an Argument here. While you CAN buy most spare parts, you can't ignore the high Price when buying it.

A phone can't possibly break often enough, so you actually start saving money with this "modular repairability".

Also, heared from a FF 1 and 2 user, he's disappointed. They stopped supporting it too early, and as soon the next one came out. He won't buy the 3.

This product is solely for those "fair people", who only care about fair materials, fair salary through the whole chain.

In my Opinion: I can get a MUCH better device for less than half the Price. And if i need it to feel better, i can just donate what i want, to the organisation i prefer.

The most expensive the product, the most damage it does to the environment anyway, because the most things I have to sell, in order to buy it. Anyway that's a macro economy thing. I guess it's just another flex so that you can play it cool and environment friendly to people around you.

But does a 500€ Phone really do more damage to the nvironment than a 200€ phone?
I mean, the materials neede for the Glas should be similar. Or the Display panel etc.

The same product does more damage if it costs 500 than if it did cost 200 yeah... It has to do to what a user does to get it, not only the material cost. Money making on the very end is an indication of energy spending, rich countries do way more damage to the environment for that reason. That is what I believe and there is a science behind it
