Budget (including currency): $1750-2000

Country: US

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly Games (Godfall, Warframe, Rimworld, Conquerors Blade), Davinci Resolve

Other details : Currently working off the list below have all the parts but GPU and CPU, current "monitor" is 1080p @ 60hz.

Like many people I chose the absolute best time to put together a new buy, unfortunately once I had enough to begin putting together the build all the new tech drops. I am stuck on whether to buy a cheaper processor (i.e. the Ryzen 3600x @ $195) now and replace it with a Ryzen 5800x at a later time (6 months to a year), and do the same with the GPU looking to put in a 3080 or a 6800xt if I can snag one. The GPU market being what it is currently would it be smarter to buy a budget GPU (EVGA 1650 KO for example) and upgrade later once current gen stock has been stabilized?

I currently game on an 2012 Alienware x51 with a Geforce 545GT so anything is a huge leap in hardware PC wise.

Thanks in advance for the thoughts and tips.

I would recommend doing that instead of wasting money on a more expensive processor that you will be planning on replacing with a 5800X at a later time and either save that money for the 5800X or use it for a better graphics card. A RTX 2060 Super is not worth $600 and I would look at the used market of higher end RTX 20 series or go with your plans for the 3080/6800XT(Once reviews are out there on them).

Overall, your build is pretty good.

@CommanderAlex, @GravityHurts

Thanks, I had the 2060 in there as more of a performance benchmark instead of for pricing. EVGA has a couple of 2060 super models on their store for $400-420, I am guessing that is probably more true to their intended price.

@Nerdom - Yeah I just missed out on one at my local microcenter 8(.
