So, my new PC's parts are gradually arriving from all over the US, and I realized that I have a conundrum: I don't have space on my desk for my new machine and my old machine. So, I goggled PC risers, and... I am disappoint. *Sad kitty face*

Is there a good PC case riser that can get my new machine up off the floor, and by more than just a few inches? Or should I look for a cabinet that has roughly the same footprint as my case, to get more storage space for my gaming peripherals, and get my PC off the floor?

Does anyone have any suggestions for this? I have a hand-made step stool that an ex made for me in HS, and while it is nice, it is earmarked for my soon to be old PC (which will be doing server duties), so I'm looking for something new.

There's no problem with having it on the floor, unless you have carpet and your PC has any bottom intake (including PSU). In that case, it doesn't take much; it's a little ghetto, but I just put some cardboard under mine for a few weeks until I could get something better. I ultimately got an end table from IKEA to put it on, though.

My computer area is in the main entrance for the house. Everyone walking in gets dust on the floor, and it goes straight in the PC, when it's on the floor. I have to dust out every other week, or my GPU temps spike. Plus, I like having easy access to the top IO, and the new PC is a Mini ATX, so it'll be shorter than my old standard ATX case.

I think I'm going to get some Walnut, and see if I can find someone local to make me a simple cabinet.

Why would a server need to be on your desk? Get rid of the old one and put the new one there instead.

New machine is a Micro ATX build, and I'm limited to 2 spinning rust drives, but I need to have a large, local storage capacity, so my old gaming PC is going to get turned into a storage server.

I think I'm going to get a cabinet that has a larger footprint than my PC, but not by too much, that I can get to be free standing, so I can put my gaming peripherals away when I'm not using them (instead of sitting on the floor).

I understand that, I shoud clarfiy that I didn't mean "throw it away", but rather why does that old PC that's now a server need to be on the desk? A server doesn't need a monitor and peripherals so you may as well put that one away somewhere in a closet or whatever doing its thing as a server while your new PC can be on the desk.

OH! No, the server has it's own riser, and I'm also going to use it for smaller video projects, or ones that will take forever, plus, I'm going to use it as a media PC, so it'll be under my desk, but on it's own stand. Space is at a minimum, but I have a spot for it, I think... But keeping stuff off the floor is pretty important. 😧
