When you power on the system, do you hear it start up, do you feel it vibrating like the platters are rotating? Not sure if the Freezer method would work. There is a method that you stick your drive in a freezer for a short amount of time and its suppose to revive the drive temporarily.

Otherwise you may have to send it out to a hard disk recovery service. But that can cost tons of money.

So i think its completely dead because the bios doesnt recognise it either anymore :( so iv just put my spare drive in and its being seen so i guess i have to live with the loss of the data.

Hi

So i just booted my pc and it took awhile to load up into windows then i came to realise that i had some program icons on my task bar that are a blank white page and when u click them it just shows a message box saying " The drive or network connection that the shortcut 'bla bla bla' refers to is unavailable. Make sure that the disk is properly inserted or the network resource is available then try again." So after seeing this i restarted the pc and was met with a S.M.A.R.T Status Bad telling me to backup and replace the HDD, so after a bunch of hassle trying to even boot back into windows for 20mins i finally got in and the drive isnt even detected so i cant even find it to back it up, thankfully this is a 2nd drive in this system without windows on so it could be even worse but rn i have a 2nd hdd ready to use but i wanted to get my data off the old drive before dumping it, is this possible or is it legit straight dead even though the bios can recognise it. Thanks
