GTX 1070 + Samsung 980 Pro on a B550

I've got a quick theoretical question regarding PCIe Gen 4. I've got a GTX1070 and I want to get a 980 PRO in the M.2 slot. Is it possible for both of them to work at a full speed simultaneously? Motherboard is a Gigabyte B550 AORUS PRO.

 

If you use the top M.2 slot, it will use the extra PCI-E 4.0 lanes supplied by the CPU.

You GPU + M.2 SSD will run with PCI-E 4.0 full speed.

 

If you use the bottom M.2 slot, it be come from the B550 chipset.

That will run at PCI-E 3.0 speed.

Just making sure. I've heard this might become an issue because of the lack of PCIe lanes in the CPU or the chipset.

The question was already answered but hypothetically, if you had an Intel system (no dedicated NVMe lanes from the CPU) then the chipset would supply PCIe lanes to the drive and the GPU would still be functioning at full bandwidth.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

I would save the 980 pro money and get a better gpu
