$500 build

Go to solution Solved by Helpful Tech Witch,

if you can go for a amd GPU (the rx 570 and the 1650super are similar in gaming), you can get a 4c/8t cpu, 16gb of ram, and the ability th overclock cpu and use xmp on your ram.

Budget : Around $500 USD

Country: US

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:  This computer will be used for gaming, light video editing, and other everyday task like being on this forum

PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/r2KdDc

CPU: Intel Core i3-9100F 3.6 GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard: MSI B365M PRO-VDH Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($69.98 @ Amazon)
Memory: Patriot Viper 4 Blackout 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR4-3000 CL16 Memory  ($37.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: ADATA SU635 480 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($46.99 @ Amazon)
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER 4 GB TUF GAMING OC Video Card  ($173.98 @ Newegg)
Case: Deepcool MATREXX 30 MicroATX Mini Tower Case  ($39.99 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: EVGA W3 450 W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply  ($44.99 @ Best Buy)
Total: $413.92

By the way the cpu price is not included in the total because it is out of stock. It is in stock on NewEgg but for some reason PC Part Picker does not list it as in stock on NewEgg. Here is the NewEgg link: here

Any thoughts on this build? Anything that I should change?

So I am wondering if the Intel Core i3-9100F and the Asus GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER 4 GB TUF GAMING OC Video Card are a good combo. In other terms I mean will they be good together in a build and will the cpu bottleneck the GPU. Do i need to get a GPU that is less powerfull?

it's an OK combo, but in terms of value, it could be better. Though that depends a lot on what country you're buying in.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

I would think that maybe the branding "dual" that asus uses might have caused some confusion, though the word Dual didn't show itself in the original post, and OP isn't considering a dual graphics card solution, at least I don't think so.

Probably, the 570 is a fairly capable graphics card and the Ryzen CPU would offer a better platform. However, we still don't know your country so value is impossible to estimate.

Swap out the 9100f with a 3100. It's $40 more, but it has hyper threading, it has better upgradability, gaming performance, and upgradability. Also get a new mobo obv

Probably better to say what your budget is and let someone generate a pcpp build vs. just listing pairs of things.

Okay sorry I suggested a build on the forum and this is what Helpful Tech Wizard suggested I build instead on that post: PCPartPicker Part List and I was trying to decide whether to get the ASRock Radeon RX 570 4 GB Phantom Gaming D Video Card or the Asus GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER 4 GB TUF GAMING OC Video Card to go along with the build that he suggestd. I should have just said that at the beginning.

Here is the post I am referencing: (Here is that post)

Edit: The Asus GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER 4 GB TUF GAMING OC Video Card. just looks better on paper

I highly recommend cutting out the hard drive first and buying a better PSU, as well as a case with some proper airflow.

you can add a hard drive at any time but upgrading a PSU is annoying.

Yeah this is a good list. If you really want more storage get a Team GX2 (The 512GB model)

Not a problem, in the future the "new builds and planning" section is a good call and you can insert your own parts list to show everyone where your starting point is at

So I was recommended this build by Fasauceome and I am wondering if I should go ahead and pull the trigger and buy it. I was wanting to wait till LTT releases their holiday buyers guide that they do every year but I was thinking by the time they release that video a lot of these items might go out of stock because of the Holidays. I am thinking that I should go ahead and pull the trigger because I do not want to run the risk of any of these parts being out of stock or their prices being raised by the time LTT releases their holiday buyers guide video. The Team at LTT is awesome and maybe they would have a better build.

First off, I sincerely doubt that any parts of your build will be mysteriously out of stock, even during the holiday season. The RX 570 is a GPU from 2017, and the Ryzen 3 3100 has never had major problems staying in stock. However, while the build doesn't have any super obvious flaws to me, it's using somewhat outdated hardware. This doesn't mean you're going to have a bad experience, but the prices of some components might drop (especially the 3100 and RX 570 - considering that both Radeon 6000 and Zen 3 are right around the corner), and there might be some new releases in the budget segment in the coming months. Something like a Ryzen 3 5100 (currently speculation) and an RX 6500 XT (also currently speculation) would give you a pretty substantial performance bump, and some future-proofing.

If you're willing to wait 'till Q1 2021, you might have some more options. But all that being said, if you need a PC in the very near future, this is a pretty great build for the money.

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Intel Core i7-1195G7 • Intel Iris Xe Graphics • 16GB LPDDR4x 4267MHz • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD • 13.4" OLED 3.5K InfinityEdge Display (3456x2160, 400nit, touch).

Got any questions about my system or peripherals? Feel free to tag me (@bellabichon) and I'll be happy to give you my two cents.

PSA: Posting a PCPartPicker list with no explanation isn't helpful for first-time builders :)

as mentioned, waiting will almost always grant better bang for your buck. but prices are pretty good across the board for those components; aside from the cpu being marked up a bit due to demand, everything's actually pretty cheap. i'd personally get a used rx 570, as they usually go for half the new price on the secondhand market

topics i need help on:

Spoiler

my "oops i bought intel right before zen 3 releases" build

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 (placeholder)

GPU: Gigabyte 980ti Xtreme (also placeholder), deshroud w/ generic 1200rpm 120mm fans x2, stock bios 130% power, no voltage offset: +70 core +400 mem

Memory: 2x16gb GSkill Trident Z RGB 3600C16, 14-15-30-288@1.45v

Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix X570-E Gaming

Cooler: Noctua NH-D15S w/ white chromax bling
OS Drive: Samsung PM981 1tb (OEM 970 Evo)

Storage Drive: XPG SX8200 Pro 2tb

Backup Storage: Seagate Barracuda Compute 4TB

PSU: Seasonic Prime Ultra Titanium 750W w/ black/white Cablemod extensions
Case: Fractal Design Meshify C Dark (to be replaced with a good case shortly)

basically everything was bought used off of reddit or here, only new component was the case. absolutely nutty deals for some of these parts, ill have to tally it all up once it's "done" :D
