Issue with mic

Hello so basically when I connect my mic to my laptop the mic doesn't register. I know its not the mic issue cause it works on my PC but on my laptop none of the mics work. and during game lobbies I can't even hear when other players use their mic. My laptop has a built in mic that doesn't work and none of the mic I connect work. To be clear, the output area works completely fine but input never works. Can someone help me fix this?

Does changing your sound input not work at all? In that case then this sounds like a driver issue.

How exactly are you connecting the mic, what model is the laptop and which mic are you using ??

yep, updated the driver but still doesn't work

used the in-built mic and it doesnt work. Used an Rog headphone (came with the laptop) and it doesn't work. I also used some other headphones, none work.
