Can I still use a Windows 7 key (upgraded to Windows 10 afterwards) to use the key again to install windows on this laptop

I have screwed up my laptop and I want to reinstall windows, the problem is can I still use the Key that is under my laptop to activate windows 10 
(i have no idea if the key that is under my laptop has been used because it doesn't show in windows what key I have)

The key apparently makes copy of itself so that you can use same to install both Win7 and Win10 at the same time. Also, if you have connected that key to your MS account, just login.
