Unread topics not bolded

Steps to reproduce/what were you doing before it happened?

 

Closed Firefox, Was using zoom for some time.  Might have been a restart

What happened?

Seeing new typography and other changes which imply there was some sort of update, which is cool, but the topics section no longer has boldface on titles for posts I haven’t read

 

What did you expect to happen?

For there to be bold on topics that I hadn’t read or had been updated

It’s not crippling as number of post replies is still there, but it was sort of handy.  Could be a feature not a bug.  Thought I should post in case it wasn’t intentional.

 

If it's a cloudflare error, what was the ray ID from the bottom of the error page?

I have the same "feature".

I don't think it's a bug.

Though I would prefer unread posts to be bolded.

The bold for unread seems to still be present in other sections so it seems somewhat ambiguous to me.  It would be a conscious decision to not do it if it wasn’t an oopsie. Breaks continuity.

Begs meaning of feature.  Microsoft for some years had frequent “it’s not a bug it’s a feature” stuff.  “Feature” doesn’t automatically mean improvement, it just means intention or lack of intention. Sometimes stuff is an obvious bug sometimes it’s hard to tell.  With this one it’s hard for me to tell.

 

Half bug half feature implies to me an accidental change that actually improves things. They happen.  I don’t think this one improves anything from a user perspective.   A downgrade, even if only for continuity. It also doesn’t strike me as a really exceptionally crippling thing though.

The recent topics sidebar? It's meant to be cached and shared by multiple users, so I'm not quite sure why it ever worked in the first place. (I know it did, but the caching does seem to work now so tracking unread content shouldn't.)
