Can I access My Cloud OS 5 via ad-hoc ethernet

Lloyd

Hi All,

I have a WD MyCloud Pro PR4100. For various reasons I have to connect my PR4100 directly to my laptop via an ethernet cable, not through a router or switch.

I’ve not yet been able to find a way to access the MyCloud Web OS interface since having to do this. Is this even possible, and if so, how?

Thanks!

You need to plug it in a router so it can connect to your laptop.

Or plug it with the USB (i don't know if you can access it this way tho).

Is there no way around this? The PR4100 doesn't have a USB port to directly access it and I live in a house with shared wi-fi and don't want my housemates to have access to my NAS.

You need to setup a private networking between the nas and your computer.

this post might help you, or you can buy a cheap router for yourself.
