Electric guitar on pc

Dr0y

So a friend of mine asked me how to plug a guitar on pc and with some research it appears that audio interface are the best way to go.  I would need some suggestion of a good yet affordable audio interface that still can provide a good sound quality when he's gaming.

He already have the schiit hel but I'm not sure it can get the job done for the guitar and I'm pretty sure he would be better with something else.  He also plays a lot of fps like tarkov and the last cod (I don't know which one it is, never played cod and haven't followed cod games) and the things he likes about the hel is that now (compared to the onboard audio) he can more easily hear the position of the enemies ... so if he gets an audio interface for the guitar, will the thing be able to replace adequately the schiit hel in gaming ?

So I would need some suggestion of good entry level audio interface ; I've asked about his budget and still didn't get any answer but he told me he wanted to use the money (canadian $) he had planned for the beyerdynamix 250 ohm to buy the audio interface for the guitar, so if I believe amazon.ca it would be around 400$ ... well let's say 400$ max but still looking for the best bang for the buck there ... it's not for any professional use in any way, it's just an old hobby he thought about picking back up and he can't have an amplifier where he lives.

UMC202HD is the best bang-for-buck option,
Take a look at the guide in my signature if you want more options

I ran my instruments through a passive direct injection box (~US$10) directly into my PC's mic input when I first started dabbling recording.  DI boxes take high-impedance instrument/line level signals and turn them into low-impedance mic-level signals.  I know you were asking for interface recommendations and I have none to offer, but it's a very cheap solution so I thought I'd throw it out there.

i can agree with @The Flying Slothon choosing the Behringer UMC 202HD, i have the bigger brother (UMC404HD) and have occasionally used it to record all kinds of musical instruments. Other than that I can say that they are built like a tank, mine was sadly dropped more than once but it has only some scratches left from that. And does anithing need to be said about bang for the buck, because in my opinion you almost can't beat it.
