Gtx 1060 gtx 1070

zFox

Hey I was looking to get a gtx 1060 for a secondary pc build in a micro atx case, these cards were around $125 half a year ago but now they are $175 or so. Id think it just be better to get a gtx 1070 then because its around $220 and seems like a better deal than the gtx 1060 because of the price jump.

I wanted to get a gtx 1070 zotac mini because of its size,  does anyone know if this card and quiet and reliable?

I also looked at the gtx 1660 super but I couldn't find any deal or used ones that seems like it would be worth it over the gtx 1070, unless of course if the 1660 is alot better at machine learning/cuda nn? Specifically to run nueral net chess engines like Leela and Stockfish nn.

Also do you guys think I should wait until nvidia releases their new GPU lineup? Will they have a $150-270 card?

Yeah I would go for the GTX 1070, the used deals on them are decent. I was able to pick up one for $200 from the classifieds I would try there. Anything new from Nvidia I see being price gouged anyway when the entire stock seems to be bought up by bots. Pre_orders have been pretty garbage all around for anything released, consoles and GPUs alike.

Look at the classifieds topic on the forum. Rtx 2060 KO was posted for $200. The KO is better at workload tasks than a normal 2060, not sure if it would apply to your use case though. A 3060 realistically won't come out til 2021

200 bucks is a good price, i frequent /r/hardwareswap which is pretty big these days and thats about the going price for a 1070/1070ti, and iirc the 2060 is just ahead of the 1070ti in rasterized performance. a 1060 goes for ~120-130 which is also a fine deal

The 1660Ti/Super is a little bit slower than the 1070, but the 1070 also has an extra 2gb of vram which is really useful for such things.
