My firend asked me to build him a gaming PC.

He told me taht he had 1000$ CAN budget. I made this pcpartpicker list for him and I was wondering if the R5 2600 is a good choice for this budget.

Also, I would want to put a 1660 ti, but I don't know which piece I can cheap out a little.

The 1660 Ti although is the better card performance wise, the 1660 Super although technically weaker, is a superior value compared to the Ti variant. I would invest into a 1660 Super, as it will give back a little bit to your already short budget.

RGB is very overrated.

ryzen 5 2600 and 3600 is perfect for any mid tier budget build

please dont cheap out on the case, you will regret it

before deciding on what gpu to get wait until amd's new gpu's which i think release on october 28th?

get a 2tb hard drive along with a SATA ssd, its important you get a sata ssd mostly because when it comes to boot time and the loading of games, they are virtually exactly the same speed, ssd isnt really necessary if you dont care about boot times and load times, so you can cheap out on that

you "can" cheap out on the psu like me, for example i have a $50 750w psu, the reason why its so cheap is because its not even bronze rated lmao.

going all amd will save you enough money to get the extras like say a good ssd, a better motherboard, a better case, and a better psu if you so wish

but please, just please wait for amd's new gpu lineup to release if your on a budget

@boggy77's suggestion looks pretty solid to me. With the budget your friend has, I'd definitely go with an mATX build. It looks like there's a surprisingly high price discrepancy between mATX and full ATX boards in Canada. Here in the US it's only like a $15-20 USD (~$20-26 CAD) difference, but you're saving a good $50-75 CAD going with a mATX build in Canada.

You may have already known that but I just found it interesting since it hadn't come to my attention before.

I mostly speak from my own past experience from similar problems. My solution may not work for you, but I'll always try my best to help as much as I can. If you want me to see your reply, make sure to quote my comment or mention me @WaggishOhio383, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
