Ok, i hope this is the rigt place to ask this.

 

I have a boss who wants to use two pc's as one without kvm. is it possible to manage it to use two pc's as one pc with only one screen and a drag and drop option. i showed him how to share a mouse and keyboard but thats not what he is looking for. He want to use the 2 machines as one phisycal PC.

What's the actual use case requirement? Why do they need two machines? Would a VM on a single machine not be sufficient?

Only one screen? Probably not. Unless he remote in the other PC with an app like teamviewers or whatever other remote desktop application (Unless there are applications I am not aware of).

Or is he willing to change the monitor input all the time, alternating between PC 1 and PC 2 ?

Overall, it would be a lot simpler and better to use a KVM switch for his mouse, keyboard and screen.

 

Or get two monitors and use an application like mouse with borders or Synergy.

 

A boss who is asking for something unreasonable, is nothing new, though.

As others have noted, it really depends on what he's trying to accomplish by controlling both PC's at once.

 

As mentioned multiple times now, software like Synergy and Mouse without borders are the closest thing to what you're describing.

 

But if he just wants to move files around from one PC to another, I'd suggest something like Teamviewer (assuming both PC's are setup for unattended access, then you'll have full file transfer capabilities using a built-in utility that is installed as part of Teamviewer) - but really, he should examine why he's doing what he's doing, and maybe look at just creating a better system (such as keeping the files on a NAS instead).
