Yes, I actively use floppy drives. There's no reason it wouldn't work.

i thought it was interesting especially when Microsoft took away Paint and Solitaire , a lot of legacy hardware seems to be left in the dust sadly

as i like to keep things as close to retro as possible for my Win 98 gaming pcs

Legacy devices slow down responsiveness I have USB floppy and DVD drives that haven't been used in years...  (maybe the DVD once or twice).
